This is MORE than a hiking group! In addition to hiking, watch for invites to go bike riding, skiing, snowshoeing and kayaking. Outings are planned weekly – year round. A favorite bike ride of mine is the 26 mile Provo River Parkway or the bike path that parallels the Heber Creeper near Deer Creek Reservoir in the Heber Valley. Kayaking will start late this spring in places like the Provo River, etc. I love downhill skiing but we may also do some Cross Country Skiing. Hope you will join us on these outings.

Hike/snowshoe with us DURING THE WEEK: We are always looking for hikers who can head up in the mountains for a few hours during the weekdays. These outings consist of smaller groups and are a lot of fun! Contact me if you are ever available to go during the week. 278-5313, 205-3852 or smcgloch@yahoo.com

Hikes are never canceled due to bad weather. Plan to meet as planned. The hike itself may change due to weather conditions. A change in weather conditions creates a great opportunity to test your clothing and outdoor skills. It may also help in preparing for an emergency.

Know a Favorite Hike? Email me about ANY favorite winter hiking trails and I’ll scout it out for the group. This is our 3rd year of hiking every week through the winter. It is one of my favorite seasons to be outdoors and hiking. It’s also one of the most beautiful and therapeutic – especially when an inversion sets in the valley. I have my favorites but I am always looking for more.

SAFETY FIRST: There are SEVERAL places to go along the wasatch front for a variety of safe, winter, outdoor, recreational activities. I receive DAILY information from the U.S. Forest Service on the current conditions, avalanche conditions and mountain weather reports. I base my decisions on where we go from these daily reports. Anyone who loves winter outdoor sports should consider receiving this valuable information. Email me for more info.

FOR WINTER HIKING: SNOW/ICE SLIPPERS - A REQUIREMENT FOR MOST WINTER HIKES:
We prefer the brand: "YAK TRAX – WALKER" Walk confidently on packed snow and ice! They are easy to get on and off. Walk naturally! You don’t even know you have them on. They are spikeless and ultralight. They help reduce or eliminate falls and injuries. Cost: $20. Very comfortable to hike in, fold up easily into a fanny pack when you don't need them, slip them on OVER your regular shoes. With little coils that grip the snow and ice as you walk, you feel like spider man on ICE! It’s a great feeling to have traction on slippery trails. Contact any outdoor recreational store.
